The opposing slate, as it has been for the last 8 years, is sponsored by Preserve The Woodlands, one of a series of differently named entities funded by the developer to further the developer’s interests. The Township today is blessed to have a level of credit strength and reserves that reduce our dependency on an increasingly expensive bond market for financing our future capital requirements. These policies, which earned the Township the highest credit rating possible for an institution in its category, include a focus on diverse revenue sources, robust sales and hotel tax collections, and maintenance of reserve balances in line with best practices recommended by credit agencies and the Government Finance Officers Association. This slate’s primary focus is to minimize taxes and optimize quality of life by continuing the extraordinarily effective financial policies the Township’s Board has followed for the last 10 years which have made The Woodlands the “# 1 city to live in America” for the last 2 years with residents’ satisfaction at a record 94%.
